Celebrating Impact

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Friends:

Our first academic quarter together has ended, and I am so grateful for the warm welcome and outpouring of support I have received these last five months. I have had the opportunity to connect, with not only faculty, staff and students in Seattle, but also with alumni and friends across the state, nation and in Asia.

I am moved by your passion, support and love for UW and for making a positive impact on legal practice and education throughout the world. I feel inspired by the many creative and powerful ways in which our ��Ƶ community consistently works to make positive and lasting contributions to the greater good, whether in public service or private practice. Together in 2018, we celebrated everything from our 90 percent Washington State Bar passage rate, to educating 700 students in four programs, to outstanding achievements by our faculty, staff, students and alumni that set new standards for excellence and innovation.

There have been so many amazing and inspirational ��Ƶ accolades this year – more than I could ever convey in a single message. I hope you will explore a few of our highlights from 2018 in the links below.

Resolving IRS disputes for vulnerable clients

Students and pro bono attorneys working with the Federal Tax Clinic help decrease tax liabilities, penalties and interest for low-income taxpayers.

Celebrating a favorable UN ruling

The International Human Rights Clinic worked with a Washington mother to win freedom for her son, a UW alumnus, detained in Iran.
