Jemimah W. Kamau (JD, LLM ’22) and Cristina Rodriguez, 3L are recipients of the , one of the most prestigious and competitive post-graduate fellowships in the country.

Selected from 385 applications, Kamau and Rodriguez will join 84 new public interest lawyers from 45 law schools who will work at 76 legal services organizations across 20 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. The 2022 Equal Justice Works Fellows are recognized as passionate public service leaders who have designed two-year projects in partnership with legal services organizations to help build sustainable solutions in the communities where they serve.

• Kamau will respond to the growing legal and social services needs of Black immigrants in a culturally responsive and linguistically competent manner through workshops, intakes, direct representation and case referrals. Kamau will be hosted by the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. Their Equal Justice Works Fellowship is sponsored by The Lorenzini Family Foundation.
• Rodriguez will also be hosted by Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, where she will focus on empowering and advocating for indigenous Guatemalan women and children who have fled gender and family-based violence through community education, outreach and direct representation. Her Equal Justice Works Fellowship is sponsored by Costco Wholesale.
