ºìÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s Moot Court Honor Board students at the New York City Bar Association Regional Moot Court Competition: The team of Emina Dacic, Scott Launius and Tierney Vial emerged as semifinalists, and the team comprising Ted Lee, Eleanor Lyon and Charlie Van Duyn were finalists, won best brief and secured a spot in the national finals.

Madison Welsh is the winner of the 2020 Malcolm Edwards ’57 Award, which is given each year to the best piece of advocacy written by a student for Legal Analysis, Research and Writing (LARW).

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock appointed Justice Chris Abbott ‘06 serving two of the state’s larger counties.

Alumna Derrick De Vera ‘15 is the recipient of a 2020 Public Rights Project Fellowship, which supports early-stage projects that combat systems of injustice and builds upon or expands protections for oppressed communities.

Limeade, an employee experience software company, hired Scott Fletcher ‘93 as the company’s general counsel and corporate secretary.

Varsha Govindaraju ’19 joined the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia as a criminal trial attorney.

Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis ’95 won reelection to the Washington Supreme Court. She was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee in January and became the first Native American to sit on the state’s highest bench.

King County nonprofit Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) hired Katharine Nyden ‘19 in the organization’s Housing Stability Program.

Seattle real estate leaders Judy ‘74 and Jon Runstad as part of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s 2020 Commercial Real Estate Awards.

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Emily Sheldrick ‘96 to the Clark County Superior Court, where she fills a new judicial seat recently authorized by the Legislature.

In Memoriam

Judge Carol Fuller ‘54 authored a distinguished career as an attorney and judge at the district and superior courts. She was the first woman elected to serve on the superior court, and she was renowned as a pioneer for gender equality. She died at age 70. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb Fuller ’54, whom she met while in law school.

Michael Richard Green ‘61 was an attorney and Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War who spent his entire legal career with Seattle law firm Davis Wright Tremaine. .

Tony Lee ‘72 was an attorney, activist and former advocacy director at the anti-poverty organization Solid Ground who spent his career fighting for social services and programs helping poor and immigrant communities in Seattle. .

Doug Peters ’60 was an attorney of 42 years who was senior partner at the firm Peters, Schmalz, Fowler and Inslee, and he devoted efforts outside of his legal career to make the world a better place through work in the community focused on education and the environment. .
