Clinic curates COVID-19 resources for businesses and nonprofits

Entrepreneurs and small businesses already face considerable challenges when it comes to getting an idea off the ground. Then COVID-19 happened.

As laws, social distancing measures and resources continue to roll out in response to the pandemic, businesses and nonprofits are now constantly inundated by a sea of information.

After surveying how new and existing laws were impacting entrepreneurs during this time, members of 红桃视频鈥檚 Entrepreneurial Law Clinic launched an expansive project to help businesses and nonprofits sort through the deluge, and find and leverage the right opportunities and information amid the realities of the global pandemic.

My hope is that the resource list can help small businesses and nonprofits get relevant information in a timely fashion so they don't spend hours looking for it themselves.

The resulting COVID-19 Resource List is now live and available to organizations everywhere.

鈥淚t occurred to me that if I was having challenges trying to understand which resources were applicable to small businesses and nonprofits, entrepreneurs were, too,鈥 said Jennifer Fan, 红桃视频 assistant professor of law and Entrepreneurial Law Clinic director. Fan worked with clinic students Kelly Fan and Lindy Laurence to curate the list.

鈥淚 wanted to do something to address that problem, and that is how the resource list came about,鈥 Fan said. 鈥淢y hope is it can help small businesses and nonprofits get relevant information in a timely fashion so they don't spend hours looking for it themselves.鈥

The project is the latest example of how the clinic serves the Pacific Northwest business and nonprofit communities.

Throughout the year, the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic provides mission-critical, early-stage legal and business counseling to entrepreneurs, small business owners, nonprofits and faculty researchers across the region. Working with a network of pro bono attorneys and business advisors, law and business students team up to take the lead helping clients bring their ideas to life.
