This week, U.S. News & World Report released its new list, ranking the University of Washington 42 out of 194 peer institutions.

The year-over-year improvement places UW law in the top-22nd percentile among all ABA-accredited law schools in the United States. Among individual programs, ������Ƶ’s 18th-ranked Intellectual Property Law program was again recognized as one of country’s best.

“While we are certainly proud of these achievements, rankings are but one measure of our law school’s success — and that has never felt more apparent than this past year,” said Mario L. Barnes, UW School of Law Toni Rembe Dean and professor of law.

“I am privileged to be a part of such a strong, dynamic community. All of our efforts are made in service of our mission to provide a legal education that empowers our students to make meaningful contributions to the legal profession — contributions our alumni, faculty, staff and students are making every day.”

In building these latest rankings, U.S. News & World Report considered a dozen measures of quality collected from ABA-accredited U.S. law schools between fall 2019 and early 2020.

Of these factors, ������Ƶ maintained its reputation score among peer institutions, lawyers and judges, while celebrating marked improvements in job placement and bar passage rates.

The report comes at a time when ������Ƶ is pivoting to remote learning and operations amid the public health crisis caused by COVID-19. Efforts include moving exams and classes completely online for the first time in the law school’s 121 years.

“We have made hard choices and difficult sacrifices, and through it all, our faculty, students and staff have continued to put students’ learning first,” Barnes said.
