Congratulations to Daniel Neumeyer and Sam Hampton, UW School of Law Tax LL.M. students, who recently won the 16th Annual ABA Section of Taxation Law Student Tax Challenge. The national competition, which took place January 20 in Orlando, is designed to give students the opportunity to research, write about and present analyses of a real-life tax planning problem. 

Coached by Professor Dwight Drake, the team succeeded in presenting a half-hour oral explanation of a hypothetical scenario to a panel of judges.

"This competition provided an excellent opportunity to apply our course work as if we were practitioners,” said Neumeyer. “Although the problem was challenging, I learned a lot from struggling through it."
