Professor Lauren Sancken is a Lecturer at the Law School. She teaches in the first-year Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing program.
Professor Sancken earned her B.A. in History of Science from Harvard College. She earned her J.D. from the ºìÌÒÊÓƵ, where she was the Executive Comments Editor of the Pacific Rim Law &Policy Journal, now the Washington International Law Journal, a class representative of the Student Bar Association, and an intern at the United States Senate, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) (Washington, D.C. 2009) and United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (New York District Office, 2008). Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Sancken worked as an associate at K&L Gates, LLP in Seattle. Her practice included complex commercial disputes, including construction law, Indian law, real property, and consumer protection matters. Professor Sancken also has a certificate in professional mediation skills.
Professor Sancken serves as a pro bono volunteer attorney to the King County Bar Association Housing Justice Project, a clinic that assists low-income tenants facing eviction, Re-Locate Kivalina, a climate justice project in Kivalina, Alaska, and the Duwamish Tribe regarding its federal acknowledgment effort. She also serves on the boards of Washington Women Lawyers and Maravilla Health.
