Biography
Nisa Istiani is an Indonesian legal researcher, lecturer, and consultant with over 24 years of experience in law and development. She earned her undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia and her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in the United States. She is pursuing a doctoral program at the University of Washington in the U.S. Throughout her career, Ms. Istiani has been actively involved in law and judicial reform initiatives. She started as a researcher at MaPPY FHUI (Indonesian Court Monitoring Society) before taking a role as a consultant to the Judicial Reform Team at the Supreme Court of Indonesia, focusing on implementing the "Blueprint for Judicial Reform." Additionally, she has collaborated with various international development organizations, including serving as the Technical Coordinator for Judicial Reform in the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) project funded by AusAID, Deputy Project Manager for the Justice Sector Reform Program supported by the EU and UNDP, and Project Manager for the Rule of Law Program at the International Development Law Organization (IDLO). Ms. Istiani teaches business law courses and provides consultancy services to various government agencies and ministries. Her expertise includes insolvency law reform, competition law, anti-corruption measures, public procurement, judicial training, and project management. She is also an active lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia. In addition to her teaching and consultancy roles, Ms. Istiani is the Chief of the Indonesian Judicial Research Society (IJRS) Association.
